Twitter to Add Verification System
Amid the new-found popularity of Twitter, people have found their identities stolen.  Some of this can be harmless as most of the media does not pay attention to "John Smith" down the street.  This can, however, be damaging to celebrities with media constantly search for dirt.  Many Tweet-ers have posed as celebrities, writing untrue assertions about their image being hurt.  In response, Twitter will add a verification system to prevent celebrity-imposters.  See the story here.

 
Ray-Ban Joins Brands and Invents
Ray-Ban is now doing research that would provide better UV protection for eyes.  In order to do this research Ray-Ban has had to team up with Peking University in China, joining its brand name with the University.  Ray-Ban is sharing their knowledge of eye-ware for the sake of safety.  Track this story to see how the technology develops.

 

New Cell Phone Patent?
When a major disaster occurs, the cell phone networks usually go down when the tower is damaged. This makes it difficult for emergency workers to communicate and organize.  However, this might all change due to a new patent by Motorola which would essentially turn cell phones into a Wi-Fi network, allowing for communication whether the towers are damaged or not.  Read more about it here.


UK Initiates Plan to Expedite "Green" Patents
If your patent is eco-friendly and you are in the UK, then you are in luck.  The UK-IPO has started a new plan to accelerate the patent process for inventions categorized as "Green."  These patent applications are given first priority over others and put in the front of the line.  This comes at a time when many are trying to save energy and become more environmentally friendly.  See more here.
