Is Facebook Breaking Federal Law?
Facebook is involved in litigation over whether it is violating Federal wiretapping laws. Since Pirate Bay was found guilty of copyright infringement, Facebook has been banning any of their content from the site, including private messages, possibly running afoul of federal wiretapping statutes that bar service providers from “intercepting” private messages. Apple Rejects BitTorrent Application
Apple recently rejected an iPod application designed and proposed by BitTorrent. Whether the application actually abides by copyright or not did not seem important to Apple, which was quoted as saying that sometimes these applications violate third-party rights. Is this enough to completely ban the application? More information can be found here.
Wikipedia Art Questions Free Use
Wikipedia recently added a page called “Wikipedia Art” to provide users a way to collectively transform art found on Wikipedia, including its logo. The problem starts when the art that is used is already copyrighted. The question then becomes: What is fair use? And what is infringing on copyrighted material? See more here.
