Hewlett-Packard Fights for .hp Domain Name
ICANN has ruled that new top level domain names have to have at least three characters with the exception of country codes. HP is asking them to reconsider so they can use their well known abbreviation of HP as their domain name. More of this issue can be seen on this blog.
Has The US President Broken Copyright Law?
The US President, Barack Obama, gave an iPod to England’s Queen Elizabeth II. Has he broken copyright law by giving her an iPod with digital material already on it? The question is not clear but this blog discusses if it is possible if The Queen of England and The President of The United States have broken copyright law through the gift of an iPod.
Trademarks Should Be Unique Not Descriptive
The Trade-marks Act specifically bans names that describe what the product is. Trademark applications that do so are usually rejected. This Act was recently upheld in a Federal Court of Appeals ruling that can be seen here.
