Economic Crisis Affecting the USPTO
The United States Patent and Trademark Office has started to cut back on spending, demonstrating that it too is affected by the economic downturn. They have stopped hiring and offering bonuses. Another reason behind the grim financial outlook is the decline of submitted paperwork, resulting in reduced income for the office. This blog can be seen here.
The Associated Press Threatens to Sue
The Associated Press plans to take legal action against anyone who uses AP information without their permission. The AP wants to be compensated for providing news which users all over the Internet are utilizing as a news source. This can get complicated, though, when the conversation shifts to whether AP content is in the public domain. More information can be viewed here.
Apple Jailbreaking Its Own iPhones?
A patent has surfaced that shows an illegally modified iPhone. The problem with this patent is not that it was jailbroken, but that it was filed by Apple.
