"I have just had a look around the website.  It is very impressive, and contains a lot of very useful information across the whole IP protection spectrum.  I am in fact going to use one of the experts' answers to support my bid for enhanced integral protection for a client's products. The design is excellent, [with] instant access to the items you select, no waiting or going to different pages very slick."

Simon Dilloway, Principal, Lopham Consultancy

Membership to the BPCouncil is not required for all of the discussion tools. These activities are moderated and the appropriate decorum us requested of all participants

  • The moderator receives posted messages on a regular basis and broadcasts the postings directly to the discussion tool.
  • Users are expected to follow the list, blog or forum rules at all times. If you are not sure of the rules, please ask the moderator for guidance.
  • Do no blatantly promote yourself or otherwise spam the discussion tool. Self-promotion should be kept to a brief signature file at the end of your posts and should not exceed 6 lines.
  • When sending messages to a discussion list subject headings should start with "BPCouncil:" followed by a brief description of the topic. This assists participants in responding to a posting and in the the archiving of messages.
  • If a participant wants to expand on a topic in the discussion list, the subject line should be revised accordingly.
  • Utilize common sense when posting responses and always remain courteous. First choose if it is appropriate to respond to the discussion list or directly to the participant who posted the message.
  • Please post only your response and the relevant part of the original message. DO NOT post the entire message trail in your response.
  • By posting content, the posting party warrants and represents that it owns the copyright of the material or has received permission from the copyright owner.
  • All discussion tools are public domain, therefore it is advisable to use caution when discussing products or services. Comments, messages and information posted on the discussion tools are subject to libel and slander laws.

  • The following types of posts are not permitted: extremely commercial content, flames, job solicitations, personal discussions, and profanity.
  • The moderator may refuse to post inappropriate postings.
  • The moderator may stop posting messages relating to a particular topic if the subject has been exhausted.
  • Do not post non-original content unless it meets "fair use" guidelines of copyright law or if you have permission from the original source. Be sure to cite the original source.
  • Civil discussion, healthy disagreement, and strong opinions are welcome but personal attacks and flaming are not permitted.
  • Please do not refer to a specific participant by name when voicing a strong negative opinion.
  • Abusive, derogatory, illegal, offensive, profane, or threatening content and material is strictly banned. The moderator will warn offenders, and after repeated violation of these rules the offenders will be deleted from the list.
  • Traffic fluctuates on discussion lists and in blogs and forums. You may want to choose the digest option for the discussion tools to which you participate.
  • These discussion tools are a service provided by the BPCouncil and the council takes no responsibility for the information and/or opinions expressed therein. Furthermore, the poster grants the BPCouncil the non-exclusive right and license to copy, display, distribute, print, publish, transmit and use such information and other material.
