Julie L. Myers


 

 

Julie L. Myers, Assistant Secretary of Homeland Security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), leads the largest investigative component of the Department of Homeland Security.

As head of ICE, Julie Myers has broad responsibilities for a number of key homeland security priorities. Prior to her appointment by President Bush on Jan. 4, 2006, Ms. Myers served as Special Assistant to the President for Presidential Personnel, Assistant Secretary for Export Enforcement at the Department of Commerce, Chief of Staff for the Criminal Division at the Department of Justice, and Deputy Assistant Secretary for Money Laundering and Financial Crimes at the Treasury Department.

 

Ms. Myers also worked as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York, as an associate at Mayer, Brown & Platt in Chicago, Illinois, and as clerk for the Honorable C. Arlen Beam of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eight Circuit. She received her bachelor's degree from Baylor University and her J.D. from Cornell Law School.
