The mission of the Federal Bureau of Investigations cyber crime division states in part that one of their goals is to "counteract operations that target U.S. intellectual property, endangering our national security and competitiveness."
Cyber crime is one of the FBI's national security priorities and the agency exercises various operations to combat it. One such operation, the Cyber Action Teams, or CATs, are small, highly-trained teams of FBI agents, analysts, and computer forensics and malicious code experts who travel the world on a moment’s notice to respond to fast-moving cyber threats.
Another initiative is the Anti-Piracy Warning seal that several organizations are now authorized to use. The FBI is currently evaluating the licensing arrangements it has with members of these associations with a view towards permitting the broadest possible public use of the seal by all individuals and businesses with a copyright interest.
